Lady Raiders softball falls in extras

   Habersham Central’s softball team dropped a nail-biter last Thursday against No. 4 Buford 2-1 in eight innings.     “Our kids competed. Kyla [Quiles] did a great job pitching, and she only gave up one unearned run through seven innings,” HCHS head coach Bill Bradley said.
Justin Pollock comes to TFS from a three-year stint at Southern Wesleyan University as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He previously coached for 11 years at nearby Toccoa Falls College and one year at Montreat College.

Tallulah Falls taps Pollock as new baseball coach

   Tallulah Falls School filled a vacancy with the addition of Justin Pollock as the varsity head baseball coach. Pollock takes over the Indians baseball team after the departure of longtime coach Mark Wilcox.    “First I would like to thank Dr. [Larry] Peevy, Mrs.

Habersham Central softball team's winning streak hits 8

   Habersham Central’s Lady Raiders softball team extended their winning streak to eight games last Thursday, as they shut out regional foe Shiloh 7-0.     Hailey Wade earned the win for HCHS by tossing seven innings of three-hit ball. Wade didn’t surrender a run and struck out 11 Generals hitters.

Lady Raider volleyball picks up two wins

   The Lady Raiders volleyball team secured two more wins to close last week, as they took down Lakeview Academy and Apalachee at Gainesville High School last Thursday.

   Despite notching a win in its last match against rival Habersham Central, Tallulah Falls couldn’t continue its momentum in its home opener last Thursday.     In their first match against Class 4A No. 5 Jefferson, TFS fell in three sets.

Lady Raiders softball team wins 7th straight

   Habersham Central pitcher Joey Handlos found herself in some jams Wednesday night in the circle against Flowery Branch.    In consecutive innings, the Lady Raiders’ pitcher faced a second-and-third situation and a bases-loaded, no-out scenario, only to battle through with just one run allowed.

Tallulah Falls runners hope for another historic season

   Fresh off making history last season, Tallulah Falls’ varsity boys cross country team returns one of the top runners in the state in 2020.    Junior Evan Prince, who finished third in the area and fifth at state in 2019 as a sophomore, continues to lead the TFS varsity team by example.

Habersham Central's Pickett selected for All-American watch list

   If football goes forward this fall, Habersham Central will feature one of the top players in the country.    Sports Illustrated included Raiders standout Josh Pickett as one of its 1,000 players nationwide for its All-American watch list for 2020.

Lady Raiders volleyball team spikes Stephens County

   Habersham Central’s volleyball team began its season in spectacular fashion, as they swept rival Stephens County on Tuesday.     “I was really proud of the way we played overall,” said HCHS volleyball coach Lindsay Herrin.
