Raiders host regular season finale

There is plenty at stake Friday night as the Habersham Central football team plays host to region foe Jackson County (7-2, 3-1 Region 8-5A) in Mt. Airy. The Raiders (4-5, 2-2 Region 8-5A) can finish as high as second place in the region standings, but could also wind up in fourth.  The good news?

Raiders rout Apalachee

The Habersham Central football team took down Apalachee 49-14 in Mt. Airy on Friday night to improve to 4-5 overall. Due to scheduling issues caused by both Hurricane Helene and the tragic school shooting at Apalachee in September, the game does NOT count as a region matchup.

Life after Kyia

The Habersham Central girls basketball team overachieved last year. The Lady Raiders weren’t given a chance to generate any noise in the win column, much less to find themselves playing playoff basketball.

Lady Raiders reach Elite status

For the first time in school history, the Habersham Central volleyball team is headed to the GHSA Elite Eight after knocking out Effingham County Saturday in Mount Airy. (25-23, 25-14, 20-25, 25-8) The Lady Raiders will face Sequoyah in Canton Wednesday with a spot in state semifinals on the line.

Raiders hit the home stretch

Bye week breakdown With its 52-17 beatdown of Alcovy last week, Habersham broke even for the season in terms of outscoring the competition. The Raiders have put 257 points (32 per game) on the board through their first eight games, compared to opponents’ 247.

Lady Raiders advance to Sweet 16

In Leesburg Wednesday, Habersham Central took down Lee County in the opening round of the GHSA 5A Volleyball State Tournament to advance to the Sweet 16. The Lady Raiders - a 3-seed - took down the 2nd-seeded Lady Trojans in straight sets.

TFS volleyball’s run ends in elite eight

For just the second time ever, the Tallulah Falls volleyball team advanced into the state quarterfinals, as the Lady Indians cruised to a 3-0 straight-set win on Saturday evening against Stratford Academy. (Macon) The 8th-ranked Lady Indians won 25-11, 25-13, 25-17 against No. 9 Stratford.

Hab volleyball standouts get All-Region nod

For a program as high-caliber as the Habersham Central volleyball team, it’s difficult to imagine how two consecutive seasons (2022-2023) can go by without a state tournament berth.  For the Lady Raiders, that run dealt its share of heartache, heartbreak, and near misses.
