Anderson, Hatchett roll into state legislature

   In the least suspenseful elections of the week, Habersham County residents Bo Hatchett and Victor Anderson easily took their places as first-time legislators.    Hatchett won the highly-coveted District 50 Senate seat with 83.2% (71,623 votes) to Dee Daley’s 16.8% (14,484).

County, Clarkesville look to partner on KIA Memorial upkeep

   After much deliberation, Habersham County and the city of Clarkesville are working on an inter-governmental agreement for the upkeep of the Killed In Action War Memorial on the city square.

Habersham Central homecoming postponed after COVID-19 strikes opposing school

   Due to COVID-19 issues at Central Gwinnett High School – the team scheduled to play Habersham Central on Friday night – the homecoming game has been postponed.    The Homecoming Bonfire and Barbeque will take place as scheduled Saturday, Nov. 7 from 6-9 p.m. at Habersham Central.

   Habersham County Commissioner Tim Stamey will get a full four-year term in office after a landslide victory in Tuesday’s general election.    Stamey got 16,382 of 19,691 votes (83.2%) to easily outpace Democratic challenger Mike Adams (3,309 votes).

   Due to COVID-19 issues at Central Gwinnett High School - the team scheduled to play Habersham Central on Friday night - the homecoming game and presentation of the court and queen will be postponed.    The homecoming bonfire and barbecue scheduled for Saturday, Nov.

   Despite the convenience of rapid antigen tests, many of which produce results inside of 30 minutes, the CDC’s website says that these tests are “less sensitive” than reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.

Demorest tables hospital security talks again

   Tempers and voices were raised during discussions concerning the termination of the 2017 Hospital Intergovernmental Agreement with the city to continue providing police services at Habersham Medical Center.

Zeta brings down trees, power all over Habersham County

   Thousands in Habersham County and more than a half million Georgians lost power for most of Thursday as Tropical Storm Zeta brought down trees and power lines all over the county.
