Smart growth better than instant boom

Habersham County commissioners were in a no-win situation last week, and after two long meetings, they decided all the options regarding the proposed new development in Baldwin were unacceptable.

Majority of officers are honorable To the editor: Two weeks ago I was driving on Georgia Highway 985 North when I was pulled over by the Georgia State Patrol. The officer approached my car and told me that he had pulled me over for not wearing a seat belt.

The Nov. 3 general election is quickly approaching. Though we have had a less than acceptable turnout for the past two local elections, during a presidential election Habersham has a great history of turning out in large numbers.

Something fishy going on in Baldwin To the editor: Why is Baldwin being picked on? Earlier this year, Habersham County rejected the annexation of land to Baldwin which would have allowed 736 housing units being brought into the Baldwin City limits.

Election time once more To the editor: It seems like once a week I receive a letter asking for money to help a candidate win the election. More frustrating are the telephone calls which come in to the house phone. To solve it, I do not answer unless it is a number I recognize on the caller ID.

Fill out that Census

The push to get everyone counted in the Census 2020 got somewhat lost in the pandemic shutdown, but the importance of it has not. Census Day was supposed to be April 1, but by then we were all sheltering at home, trying to safe from COVID-19.
