Respect the safety of children

   Though it still seems too warm out for school to start, teachers are already back and the students return to Habersham County Schools on Friday morning, bright and early.    That is going to put a lot of parents and bus drivers back on the road carrying our precious cargo, namely the children.

Lesson in human decency can be learned in grammar school

   When I was in elementary school – it was either the sixth or seventh grade – my classmates elected me to fight a boy named Johnny because he supposedly was picking on smaller kids.    It was almost an honor.    The fight took place down at the railroad tracks near the school.

Protect and thank our farmers

   In the last week, much needed rain showers have coated Habersham County after several weeks of extremely dry weather that put an excess burden on local farmers.

Escaping the cell for a while

   I don’t know about you. But I can always sense it. Even when it’s in the other room. Even when it’s powered down. Though it’s rarely powered down. I know it’s there.    It is my cell phone.    Right now as I type this in my living room, it’s watching me. It’s sitting on the corner of the couch.
