Tow trucks and dump trucks … grrrr, Mondays

   Sitting in a tow truck, staring out the window and wondering how I got there was how my Monday ended.    I guess I knew how I got there. My car broke down on the highway in Rabun County. Why remains to be seen at press time, but it was not even the first time that day when my car faced danger.

Bagwell was the man for the job

   It seemed like an almost obvious succession plan.    Dr. Adam Bagwell, who has been a well-liked and accomplished principal at North Habersham Middle School, was the sure bet to be the new leader at Habersham Central High School in the wake of Dr.

Proud to be in Habersham County

   Hello Habersham County, I am excited to be here. In time, I look forward to meeting you all in person.    I am Keith Barlow and my wife is Paige from Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Paige is retiring this year after teaching art to middle and high school students for 30 plus years.

We must do better

   Another primary has come and gone in Habersham County. Perhaps some folks did not even realize it.    Of the 29,668 registered voters in Habersham County, 6,319 voted for a turnout of 21.3 percent.    On Election Day May 21, only 9.31 percent of our registered voters went out to the polls.

Every day is Something Day

   Happy belated National Brisket Day to you and yours. Yesterday was the big day, and although I did not partake in any celebrations, it’s a cause that’s near and dear to my heart given that I know my way around a good brisket.    Not a fan? No worries. Yesterday was also National Hamburger Day.

   The current home of Habersham Central High School was completed 14 years ago, and it has never known a school day without Dr. Jonathan Stribling.

Trump, RFK should team up   To the editor:    Recently, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced his candidacy for the position of U.S. President.  It never occurred to me that he would renounce his Democrat membership and run as an Independent.

Memories explode as we look back at brother’s life

   My brother, Kenneth, was good, maybe even great, at everything he did.    Well, nearly everything. Golf would be an exception, although he loved the game and would play with anybody, even really good golfers.
