Congrats to our young people

Our young people are our future, and their futures begin today when they get handed a high school diploma.    In all, there are 564 students graduating this week who either live in Habersham County or go to school here or both.

Lots to think about in November   To the editor:    I’m wondering why many people only watch one news channel and never do research to check for the truth. For instance, Trump is now claiming that the FBI raided his Mar-a-Lago resort home with guns and orders from President Biden to kill him.

Who can unlock the secret of shopping boredom?

I was recently talking with a colleague about the opening of Michaels in Cornelia, and he remarked that he had never been in one.    “You’re married, is that right?” I asked. He is, and somehow, no Michaels.    He has not been in Ulta, either.

Good, clean campaign

National politics have changed so dramatically in the last 20 years.    For most of our history, we put forth candidates for an office. We then debated the merits of each and the platforms we represented, and then we voted.

Victims of big business   To the editor:    Do you ever pay for your groceries these days feeling like you only exist to make wealthy corporations richer? If you do, you’re not alone. We always point to inflation, but that’s only part of the problem.

Cheers and jeers

THUMBS UP to the Tallulah Falls School varsity baseball team, which has gone on a historic run to the 1A state championship series.    The Indians earned an added bonus – a shot at redemption against Prince Avenue Christian, who knocked them off in stunning fashion in the regional finals.
