The truth behind fairy rings

When I was a kid, I was fascinated by fairy rings, naturally occurring circles of darker, uneven grass growth that sometimes appear as rings of mushrooms.

Keep the riders out of it

The Georgia Assembly finished up its business for 2024 last week, passing a budget and getting plenty of new bills through to potentially become the law of the land.    But one practice that legislative bodies have been doing since their creation needs to stop.

“In a world of cellular phones, express lanes, business lunches, and political correctness, being a gentleman seems to be more and more complicated.”    So far, I agree with John Bridges, author of a book titled “How to be a Gentleman: A Contemporary Guide to Common Courtesy.

Farewell, old friend

I’m not exactly what you’d call a “car guy,” but I do plenty of driving so I’m on the road often. I don’t mind a nice, long stretch of open highway. Throw in a solid podcast and some tunes and let it ride.    Those long stretches are in decline, though.
