Too easily pleased

I’ve never been one to lose myself in a book. I have certainly read books and, though less frequently, still do. Yet the urge to curl up with a thick stack of pages continues to elude me.    I’m not proud of it, by the way. Nearly every “successful” person reads books and does so regularly.

Read between the lines

There has been much debate across America in recent years about literature and what books are appropriate for whom. Georgia’s General Assembly is potentially entering the fray when it comes to the right to ban books from libraries.

Support for future LOST To the editor:    I want to weigh in on an issue of importance to our local citizens and one which is being considered in the state legislature now – the issue is that of a local option sales tax. This issue is dear to me.

Assembly’s silence is deafening

Listen.    Can you hear it?    What?    Two things in Atlanta.    Clink, clink, clink and tick, tick, tick.    Cocktail glasses of Georgia Power, Twin Pines Minerals LLC and their lobbyists are clinking so loudly that you don’t have to be in Atlanta to hear the unmistakable sounds.

Who’s on first? Nope, it’s Ludacris

Any time you watch the Super Bowl and your team is not playing, it becomes a Hollywood spectacle.    I felt like I was just looking for famous people in the crowd and wondering how many times Taylor Swift would be shown on camera, especially for the first three quarters.

A beautiful shining night

Think about the best day of your life. If you can remember the feeling and live in the moment of that sensation of pure joy, then you have some idea what Night to Shine is like for the participants.

A few surprises so far in Atlanta

Georgia’s 2024 legislative session hits its midpoint this week. As usual, the second half will be far more active and intense than the first. But let’s pause to consider how this session has already defied expectations.
