Many serve us well in crises

   They say if you do not like the weather in North Georgia, wait a day. That especially applies in the winter time, when we have no idea whether we will get a cold snap, or a flood or just plain 65 degrees in the afternoon on New Year’s Day.

God’s wrath = great anger To the editor:    Do you believe the Bible? I do and it makes me think, does it you? God’s wrath is not preached very often but that doesn’t remove God’s wrath, does it? God’s wrath is in the Bible and it also tells us God never changes.

Suggested reading for the Assembly

   If you should read that I died under an avalanche, it won’t be on a ski slope in the Swiss Alps.    Oh, no.    I’d probably enjoy a trip to Switzerland, but there’s another avalanche more likely to smother me. It’s the leaning tower of books that I have on deck to read.

Don’t risk innocent lives on the highway

   The new year has already seen a handful of wrecks on Highway 365, one of the most dangerous roads in North Georgia.    Fortunately, no one has been killed so far in 2024, but that first time is sadly inevitable.

Follow the word of God To the editor:    In regard to the recent disaffiliation of over 290 Methodist Churches in the North Georgia Conference from the United Methodist Church, please know that the issue is about following God’s Word or following the world.

   It was a somewhat fitting end to a terrible 2023, honestly.    I spent most of Christmas week sick in bed with the flu, and being sick is bad enough as it is. But that was not even the worst of it.

   Did you know that Christopher Columbus discovered America while cursing about the Atlantic? And that his ships were called the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Fe?    No, I didn’t know that either.

Down a slippery slope

   There are many people who love and support former President Donald Trump. There are also folks who do not.    Both of those opinions are well supported here in America, where we are free to think whatever we want about any political candidate.

‘Why’ questions important to ask   To the editor:    Thank you for publishing Jack Sharpshair’s letter on Dec. 22. He nailed it with his list of “Why” questions. I know many readers of The Northeast Georgian have thought these thoughts before.  Like why do we have 28 degrees and global warming?
