Presidential primaries are a joke

There has been a lot of talk over the last three years about whether our presidential election was rigged, interfered with or otherwise compromised in some way.

Angels lurk where you least suspect

Jo looks like a normal, everyday person. She’s unassuming – dressed in black and doesn’t wear a stitch of makeup. Her auburn hair is like waves of the ocean, rising and falling about her head. She wears a Dollar General apron around her neck and hips.

Finding the best use of the surplus

The General Assembly returned this past week for a special legislative session. They are redrawing the district lines for themselves and our congressional delegation to comply with a federal court order.

Tear this building down

Right, we have said this before about the old courthouse in Clarkesville. Tear the building down, to paraphrase former President Ronald Reagan.    And we are. The county is working on it, but there are folks who keep coming out of the woodwork thinking we can save the building.    We cannot.

Election could be fixed again To the editor:    Once again, I hear the call to alert our community, state and nation to take heed of our White House occupant. I dislike calling Joe Biden our President because he does not deserve this title.

Cheers and Jeers

THUMBS UP to the organizers of the Downtown Clarkesville Christmas for moving the parade. No one wants to watch a parade in the rain, and very few folks would have come off their couches during the SEC Championship game to be wet and cold, even with Christmas spirit abounding.

Economy in trouble To the editor:    Have you ever thought about this? The ad in the paper shows a new car at an incredible price drop – $12,000 off MSRP. You are led to believe that the poor dealer is going to take a huge loss.

I’ll be here for Christmas, you can plan on me

You never feel more blessed to live the small-town life as you do when you come back from someplace busier after Thanksgiving.    Pinellas County, Fla., has nearly a million people living in it, with another 1.4 million across the bay in Tampa.

Find your Christmas spirit

Christmas celebrations are upon us in Habersham County, even as the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers are leaving everyone’s refrigerator.    Cornelia lit up its tree on Friday night to start the festivities, and there is plenty more yuletide joy to go around Habersham County as December dawns.
