Economy in trouble To the editor:    Have you ever thought about this? The ad in the paper shows a new car at an incredible price drop – $12,000 off MSRP. You are led to believe that the poor dealer is going to take a huge loss.

   You never feel more blessed to live the small-town life as you do when you come back from someplace busier after Thanksgiving.    Pinellas County, Fla., has nearly a million people living in it, with another 1.4 million across the bay in Tampa.

   Christmas celebrations are upon us in Habersham County, even as the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers are leaving everyone’s refrigerator.    Cornelia lit up its tree on Friday night to start the festivities, and there is plenty more yuletide joy to go around Habersham County as December dawns.

Party for the elite To the editor:    Knowing that this is the 200th birthday of Clarkesville, I expected a big celebration on the Fourth of July this year.    Instead, I read in the newspaper that there was a celebration at the beautiful homestead – the Charm House – last week.

Thanksgiving.    How does this holiday resonate with you?    For me, it’s savoring memories and making memories.    As a skinny boy with buzz-cut hair, I squirmed for 175 miles in the backseat of our family’s first new car.

Thanksgiving has no equal

   I can’t handle Christmas lights already being up before Thanksgiving. I just can’t. It’s just one of things I am going to hold onto. We have compromised on so many things, but on this point, I will not budge.    But this will not be an angry column or even a slightly-annoyed one.

   Thanksgiving is upon us, and we have a lot to be thankful for in our community.    This is a beautiful place to live, and there is no better place to raise a family.

Orchard doesn’t need a tower To the editor:    Don’t take us wrong. The Orchard does want a more effective Radio EMS system for our county. It is misunderstood that we do not want the new radio system.
