Cleveland resident wins The Mountain Traveler cover contest

Richard Clark of Cleveland won The Mountain Traveler cover contest with his brilliant close-up photo of fall leaves. Clark is the owner of Strawbridge Studios, a school photography business. He has been taking school pictures of students around North Georgia since 1981.

White County hunter charged with killing big game over bait

A hunter in White County was recently charged with illegally killing a bear over bait. The incident was investigated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, law enforcement division.

Congress: DOJ withheld 1,000 jail deaths

Fallen soldier’s cuffs used during faker’s arrest

Throughout his entire law enforcement career, Lavonia Police Officer Jonathan Merck has used handcuffs with SPC Daniel Lucas Elliott’s name inscribed on them. The handcuffs once belonged to Elliott, who was a military police officer. Merck met him through their service in the U.S. Army.

Valor thief gets prison time

Gabrielle Beutler pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges from both Franklin and Hart counties and was sentenced to 15 years of probation with two years to serve in prison, and ordered to pay restitution which would be determined at a later date.
