Raider baseball splits two on Diamond Day

   In between dodging bad weather, the Habersham Central baseball team lucked out with a beautiful day Saturday for a special tripleheader event.    The Raiders split their two games, beating Gainesville 6-1 to start the day but falling late to Stephens County 3-2 to wrap it.

Tuesday night state playoff results

   Habersham Central's girls advanced in the state playoffs Tuesday night with a 52-45 win over Douglas County.    Taylor Wade led the Lady Raiders (19-5) with 19 points, while Addie Penick (11) and Nykerriah Brown (10) also were in double figures.

Tallulah Falls boys bring home first region championship

   When the final horn sounded at Athens Academy Wednesday night, celebrating commenced for the Tallulah Falls boys basketball team, as they took down George Walton Academy (GWA) 64-47 to win their first region championship in program history.

Raider boys hoops season ends in heartbreaker

   A night after needing late-game heroics from Malachi Dooley to get past Central Gwinnett for the second time in less than a week on Tuesday, Habersham Central’s season ended Wednesday night in a 46-41 loss to Buford.

Tallulah Falls girls fall in region final

   In a sold-out Sinkwich Spartan Center, Tallulah Falls couldn’t overcome tournament host Athens Academy in the Region 8A private championship, as they fell 45-35 Tuesday night.     “They came out hot and ready to play,” Indians head coach Brandy Corbett said.

Lady Raiders rolling on the way to region tournament

   The Lady Raiders put a bow on the No. 2 seed in the Region 8-6A tournament Friday night, as they routed Central Gwinnett 55-27 in their regular season finale.     “It’s good to have a game where you get everybody in,” Lady Raiders head coach Bill Bradley said.

Tallulah Falls hoops teams punch tickets to regional finals

   Last weekend, both Tallulah Falls basketball teams booked spots in the Region 8A private finals and secured home playoff games in the state tournament. Saturday the boys downed Athens Academy in a 61-59 nailbiter, while the Lady Indians flew past George Walton Friday.
