Raider wrestlers win six matches at state

   Habersham Central’s wrestling team had a good showing from five athletes who competed in the Class 6A state championships in Macon over the weekend.    “I told our guys there are no bad wrestlers at the state tournament, and we competed well,” Raiders coach Morris Brooks said.

Raiders kick Dawson County

   Habersham Central’s girls soccer team bounced back in a big way from an opening loss, crushing Dawson County 6-0 on Feb. 11.    Sarah Clark had a hat trick for the Lady Raiders with three goals, while Anna LaBarbera, Breelyn Carroll and Adi Banks each scored one.

Raider baseball team has put in work since COVID-19 stoppage

   Habersham Central’s baseball team has been working since summer to build itself into a potential force on the diamond this year.    The Raiders played just 14 games last year – splitting them at 7-7 – before COVID-19 suspended the season.

Raiders’ late rally comes up just short

   A fourth quarter surge by the Habersham Central boys basketball team wasn’t enough to rally past the Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs, who held on to beat the Raiders 69-64 Tuesday night.

Lady Raiders clinch No. 2 seed, spot in playoffs

   With a dominant 51-34 win over Winder-Barrow on Tuesday, the Habersham Central Lady Raiders will head into the upcoming Region 8-6A tournament as the No. 2 seed, which guarantees them a first round bye and a spot in the state playoffs.

Habersham boys top Gainesville in opener

   Habersham Central’s boys soccer team did not have to be told the importance of Tuesday night’s opener against Gainesville.    The Raiders jumped out to an early lead against the Red Elephants and held on through a furious final 30 minutes for a 2-1, season-opening victory at Raider Stadium.

SOCCER 2021: Habersham, Tallulah Falls teams take the pitch

   Habersham Central’s girls soccer team was on the verge of a breakthrough season in 2020, but COVID-19 ended those dreams when the world shut down.    “We’re kind of in a hangover wondering what could have been,” Lady Raiders coach Jeff LaBarbera said.

Raiders send six wrestlers to state

   Dalton King almost had his opponent turned over. If the match had been 15 seconds longer, he just might have earned a pinfall win in Saturday’s 220-pound regional wrestling final.

Corbett drains 10 3-pointers for Tallulah Falls record

   Katy Corbett torched the nets with six 3-pointers in the first half, and she had a clear goal for the second half.    “I need to get 10,” the Tallulah Falls senior said, noting that her mother and coach Brandy Corbett’s best effort was nine treys in a 45-point game at Jefferson High.

Raiders unable to stop Dacula offense

The Raiders’ mens basketball team suffered another loss Tuesday night to the Dacula Falcons, 70-46.  The Raiders (8-14, 0-10 Region 8-6A) went into the game shorthanded, with leading scorer Malachi Dooley sidelined due to illness.
