Diamond Raiders earn home sweep in V-Day doubleheader

After a week of nasty weather that brought about a slew of postponements, the Habersham Central baseball team finally took the turf Friday for a Valentine’s Day double header. Despite chilly temps, the Diamond Raiders delivered a sweep over visiting Chestatee (Gainesville).

Lady Raider soccer grinds through ‘difficult’ opening week

The early weeks of high school soccer season are always a grind. For one, with spring seasons seemingly beginning earlier and earlier each year, teams are likely to play at least a handful of matches in bitter weather conditions, especially in the northern portion of the state.

Hab hoops teams win region titles

Both Habersham Central High School varsity basketball teams captured 8-5A region championships Friday night in Mt. Airy. The Lady Raiders powered past Clarke Central 39-30 in the girls championship game. In the nightcap, the HCHS boys topped Winder-Barrow 76-68 in a heavyweight title bout.

Hoops teams navigate region tourney

Raiders, Lady Raiders both a win away from region trophy -The Habersham girls team easily defeated Winder-Barrow 50-16 in the tournament semifinals Thursday evening. The freshman duo of Sadie Chambers and Tessa Murdock led the charge, finishing with 18 points apiece.

Region tourney rolls on for Hab hoops

The 8-5A Region Tournament tipped off Tuesday night, and both Habersham Central squads began their journey towards the trophy at home. The Lady Raiders (10-11, 8-4) entered the tournament as the two-seed, and faced seventh-seeded Apalachee (4-21, 0-12) after press time Tuesday.

Raiders’ Rudeseal makes ‘Wise’ move

It had been a couple months since Habersham Central senior Everett Rudeseal announced his intention to attend the University of Virginia at Wise next fall, but he made it official last week. Surrounded by family, friends and much of the HCHS Football coaching staff, Rudeseal put pen to paper in Mt.

MACON BOUND

Last weekend was a success for the Habersham Central wrestling team as the Raiders competed in the GHSA 5A Sectionals in Brunswick. When the dust settled, seven HCHS wrestlers had qualified for the state meet this week in Macon, which will unfold Thursday through Saturday at the Macon Centreplex.

Lady Indians vie for another crown

Year one under coach Erin Jimenez netted the TFS girls soccer team their first-ever region title. A third straight double-digit win total was in tow, and a fourth straight playoff berth as well.

The Habersham Central girls basketball team hosted Clarke Central Tuesday for their Region 8-5A regular season finale. The last time Habersham faced the Gladiators, the Lady Raiders lost by nine despite a valiant comeback effort. That was back on Jan.

Raiders return to the pitch

After a near two-decade hiatus, the Habersham Central boys soccer team regained the title of Region Champs last spring. What seemed improbable down the stretch turned into reality as the Raiders rallied to accomplish the feat, knocking off rivals along the way.
