Burrell ‘honored’ by Ring of Honor nod

When Greg Burrell received a text last week from former high school football teammate Scott Lokey that read “Looks like I’ll be seeing you soon,” he had no idea what the message meant. After all, he hadn’t seen Scott in a while, so the text felt a bit out of the blue.

Defensive stalwart Hulsey tapped for ROH

For Habersham Central football, the years between 2005 and 2010 were marked by a few of the program’s most talented rosters ever. With all-time greats like Bo Hatchett and Tavarres King, the Raiders were an especially high-flying bunch - particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

Just a year ago, Raider fútbol made Habersham County soccer history after both the boys and girls clubs took home region championships - within weeks of each other. Now just a year removed from what felt like a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, HCHS has pulled off the feat yet again.

Bats come alive as Diamond Raiders win third straight

The Habersham Central baseball team hosted Lakeside (Evans) for a Saturday double header last weekend. It was a chance for the Diamond Raiders - who entered the weekend brandishing an 8-9 record - to come out above .500. HCHS did just that, winning both games in dominant fashion.

Hab middle school club takes the title

The Habersham middle school boys soccer team last reached the pinnacle in 2023, when the club took home the title of MS region champs. Last year had different plans.

Lady Raiders win local golf tourney

Though White County were the hosts for Saturday’s “Lady Warrior Spring Swing” golf tournament, the venue lies within Habersham County lines, and that was something the HCHS girls golf team seemed to take advantage of.

Georgia Southern lands Hab record setter

Habersham Central’s Paisley Cathey has known for a couple years now that she has what it takes to be an NCAA Division I athlete. And for almost that long, she has known which school will provide her that opportunity.

Soccer The Habersham Central varsity soccer teams posted a pair of big time wins over region foe Clarke Central last Friday night in Mt. Airy. The girls dominated the Lady Gladiators 10-0 to get the action started.
