Lady Indians vie for regional championship

Raiders, Indians look to continue winning ways

   The Tallulah Falls girls basketball team kicked off the school’s Senior Night with a dominating 69-28 win over the visiting Loganville Christian Academy. Senior Barrett Whitener led the team with 17 points.

Raiders basketball back after snowy postponements

Habersham Central’s boys and girls basketball teams made it double regional sweeps on back-to-back nights. Both the boys and girls basketball teams picked up a region win against Winder-Barrow last night. The girls rode an electric 20+ point first quarter to a close out a 51-48 win.

Raiders shut down Dacula and their future Bulldog

Whatever love the University of Georgia had gained from last Monday’s National Championship win was put on hold for a few hours last Friday in the Raiders’ intense come-from-behind win over recent UGA basketball-commit LaMariyon Jordan and the region rival Dacula Falcons.

TFS swimmers place well, break records

Tallulah Falls’ varsity swim teams had solid outings on Friday at the Clarke-Oconee Invitational. The Lady Indians came in fourth among 16 teams, while the boys came in fifth out of 18.

Habersham wrestlers reach state Sweet 16

Habersham Central’s wrestlers advanced to the Class 6A Sweet 16 over the weekend before falling to host Brunswick in the state team bracket. The Raiders won their first-round state match 42-34 over Allatoona in a back-and-forth contest.

Lady Raiders' relay qualifies for state

Habersham Central’s girls 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Sadie Hagel, Leah Culpepper, Sydney Maughon and Skye Medley (shown, swimming in the medley relay Jan. 8) qualified for state at the University of Georgia meet on Saturday.

TFS basketball matches up with rival Athens Academy

The Tallulah Falls boys basketball team got an important 69-60 region win over the Athens Academy Spartans. Gavin Page finished the night with a game-high 23 points. The Lady Indians however lost by a 59-44 margin, snapping their 6-game winning streak.

Habersham hoops takes on region rival Shiloh

The Lady Raiders got back on track with a 44-41 win over the region rival Shiloh Generals Tuesday night. The boys basketball team though lost a close game by a 65-61 score. Check Friday’s edition of The Northeast Georgian for more updates.

Raiders basketball back in action in new year

   Habersham Central's basketball teams swept Lanier in the region home opener Tuesday to get off to a good start in the new year.    The Lady Raiders pulled out a 46-40 win, while the boys improved to 2-0 in region with a 74-68 win.
