Clarkesville wrestlers going national

On Feb. 18, eight wrestlers from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School went to the NCISAA State Championship at Providence Day. Six of the eight Eagle athletes placed at the tournament.

Lady Raiders come up one basket short in region semifinal, win No. 3 seed

The Habersham Central girls have come a long way since the 40-plus point thrashing they received when they traveled to Buford High School in the regular season, and it was evident last Friday in the region semifinal game.

Raider hoops teams battle in state playoffs

   Habersham Central's girls fell 73-43 to Sprayberry in their first-round game on Tuesday night. The Lady Raiders trailed by 9 at halftime but could not close the gap in the second half.    Habersham finished the season 17-10.

Fighting for their seasons

The Lady Raiders fell just a couple shots short of securing the No. 2 seed and an automatic bid into the state tournament last Friday when they lost by a slim 47-45 margin to the rival Winder-Barrow Lady Bulldoggs.

Lady Raiders flexing

The Lady Warriors from White County have had the Habersham Central’s number on the soccer pitch the last few years, so the Lady Raiders were a little extra excited last Thursday when they capped off a 3-1 win.

Watson takes silver in state meet

Habersham Central’s Colby Watson took second place in the 6A state meet, but he did not go down in the championship match without a fight. Watson faced Josh McCutchen of Valdosta in the sectional finals and was quickly pinned by the now-state champion.

Lady Raiders qualify for state playoffs

   Habersham Central's girls basketball team knocked off host Lanier 38-30 in a regional quarterfinal Wednesday to earn a berth in the state playoffs.    The Lady Raiders will play Buford on Friday night in the semifinals for a chance to earn a home game in the state playoffs.
