The following public meetings are scheduled from March 25-31. Baldwin City Council 6:30 p.m. work session, Monday, March 28, at 155 Willingham Avenue. Habersham County Town Hall 5:30 p.m.

Principal shakeup coming in 2022-23

Beginning next school year, the leadership of Habersham County Schools will look a little different, as new principals will be joining the staff following some transfers and promotions to other positions in the district.

Clarkesville quandary

Habersham County Commissioners voted 3-2 to table a proposed memorandum of understanding (MOU) that would have signaled a step forward in determining the future of the former courthouse structure in downtown Clarkesville.

Family, police seek missing mom

Family and friends of Ciera Locklair Breland have been searching for any sign of her for the last month, and they are looking for all the help they can get. The FBI in Atlanta is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to her whereabouts, as she has been missing since Feb. 24.

Celebration for longtime pastor at Ebenezer Ebenezer Community Baptist Church in Mt. Airy will celebrate the 32nd pastoral anniversary of Rev. Dr. Oliver Dorsey Sr. on Saturday and Sunday, March 26-27. The appreciation reception will be from 1-3 p.m.

Wilbanks tapped for HCHS Lifetime Achievement Award

Marlan Wilbanks, a member of Habersham Central’s 1979 graduating class, has been selected as the recipient of the 2022 HCHS Lifetime Achievement Award. Wilbanks graduated from the University of Georgia in 1983 and the UGA School of Law in 1986.
