Cornelia officials are looking for ways to curb vagrancy in their city, starting with a first reading of an “urban camping” ordinance at their meeting Tuesday night.

County, cities talk development standards

Habersham County officials and representatives of its municipalities convened Wednesday to discuss their development standards in a meeting hosted by the Habersham County Development Authority.

ICAC report: Suspect allegedly had 8,000 porn images

The arrest Tuesday of Christopher Lee Webb came as a result of the discovery of more than 8,000 images of child pornography distriubtued through Yahoo emails, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office said.

Safety grant presented

At its May meeting, Habersham County’s Board of Commissioners was presented a safety grant from the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) for $8,500.

The Demorest Methodist Congregational Federated Church continues its quarterly campaigns to raise and distribute funds to local charities. The second quarter in 2022 is dedicated to the Cornelia Soup Kitchen.

Kids On Wheels event returns June 18

The Kids on Wheels free event will return to Clarkesville on Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clarkesville Police Station. There will be all kinds of fun vehicles in which kids can cruise the show, or they can bring their own set of wheels.
