Why is everyone so cruel to Charlie Brown?

We make it a point to watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” every year with the kids at Halloween. It is a classic and it never gets old. It got a little harder the last few years, as Apple TV bought up the Peanuts holiday shows and was initially going to charge people to see them.

The Fear Factor

To the editor: As a former 35-year employee of the federal government, the fear factor is not new for me. The latest fear factor is President Putin, his considering the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine. It is true that Putin is not right in the head… nor are a few other leaders of countries.

Eyes on Senate race

To the editor: The partisan divide seems to be growing ever wider with each passing day. Over and over we are told that this one did that, or that one did this, and by the time election day comes, everyone is mentally exhausted and riddled with anxiety.

Thank you, responders

Congress designated Oct. 28 as National First Responders Day in 2017. The resolution honors the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and all those who are first on the scene in stressful situations.

We can all do more

Good grief, these are frustrating times. And the self-centered, me-me-me attitude plaques way too many people. Unfortunately, these egotistical maniacs wear their feelings on their shoulders and are not shy about letting it all hang out no matter where or who is around.

OUR OPINION: Bring dignity back to races

We are being bombarded with political ads with early voting underway, but even if you listen hard, you rarely get to actually learn anything about the candidates being discussed. More specifically, we never seem to hear what a candidate will actually do to improve our daily lives.

My domestic violence wasn’t visible

My cuts and bruises were not those that were visible on my body, but internal, and they were placed there by my husband – the man who was meant to love and protect me. If you were on the outside looking in, you would have thought I had everything, and in many ways I did.

Spending spree

To the editor: I read Mr. Osborne’s lead article Oct. 19th (front page) with utter disbelief! You mean to tell me that Habersham county officials have allowed a cost overrun of $6 million on three simple projects? I smell something really bad!

Great resume for Biden

To the editor: I made the mistake of watching the news over the weekend ... in fact several times. It just doesn’t pay to do this on a regular basis because there is a sense of “Fairy Land” mentality in our media – TV, newspaper, magazines, etc.
