A sweet Christmas memory

This story begins way before Christmas time. I don’t remember what month, or even what year it was when this happened. I was visiting my grandparents (Mammaw and Pa) with my mom, dad, and sisters, Olivia and Millie.

When you listen to the music

A few days ago on my way home from church, I saw a young fellow walking along the side of the road with a guitar in one hand and frying pan in the other. “Where could this gentleman be traveling with an instrument for music and another for cooking,” I thought to myself.

Voting is search for truth

To the editor: When we as Americans first consider voting, we embark on a compelling personal journey. We know this because, above all else, we understand that our vote matters, and how precious and fragile a thing that is.

Improve our recycling facilities

To the editor: In both articles I have read about the landfill, it seems to me the county leaders are acting very much like the current presidential administration – blame the people who elected them. In both articles, county residents are blamed for failing to recycle.

Help by recycling

To the editor: After reading the article regarding the Habersham landfill filling up years before planned, I felt compelled to tell your readers about how my 81-year-old parents recycle, taking only one bag of trash to the landfill a month.

Turn out to vote

To the editor: First of all, it is possible to have a Republican victory in December if every “red” voter turns out to vote in the runoff being held this week in Georgia. No vote…no victory. The final word is early voting started Monday and runs through Friday, Dec. 2.

Fix these issues now

To the editor: Habersham, we now have two big problems: the county landfill and our hospital!  Both problems are serious because they have accumulated from previous inactions and missteps.

Fees hurting Georgia’s housing supply

Repeat after me: Our housing affordability problem is about supply. Our housing affordability problem is about supply. Our housing affordability problem is about supply. Georgia, like much of the United States, has not been building enough housing.
