Not as easy as a recall

The last meeting of the Habersham County Board of Commissioners had a black cloud over it. Citizens left and right expressed their dissatisfaction with how the county is currently being run, which is, of course, the purpose of those meetings.

The warmth of the holiday, literally

It’s always nice to see family, and outside of the last few Thanksgivings, I have not had many opportunities to see the stars of home. But we made the trek to St. Petersburg, Fla., for the third-straight year.

How’s the turkey sandwich? Or did you have enough leftovers for a plate? Typically, there are enough leftovers for a plate on the Friday after Thanksgiving with my family. Then we shift to turkey sandwiches on Saturday. Speaking of Saturday, did you know Nov. 26 is Small Business Saturday?

Bravery of our veterans

To the editor: Why are veterans important, you may ask. Blood, sweat, and tears are spread throughout the battlefield. Mothers wondering if their child will make it back home and if a child’s parent will see them again. Veterans don’t go fight because it is “cool” or “popular”.

Blood was shed

To the editor: We just got over Veterans Day and I appreciate all the veterans and their families. We have veterans in our family too, but let’s go back to Jesus Day where the battles were hard, but were won on the cross. The blood was shed for all of us on the cross, it’s all about the cross.

To the editor: Conservative news outlets recently reported that according to pollsters, “inflation” was the most important issue of concern to citizens. The term inflation “is the measure of the price of goods and services in an economy.

Work still ahead, but grateful for plenty

A little perspective every now and then can be a helpful thing. Particularly when that perspective arrives right before a holiday dedicated to gratitude. At home in Georgia, we have problems. They’re significant problems, the kind that cry out for answers.

So much to be thankful for

Thanksgiving is our national day to be thankful, and I am thankful for so many things. For my family and friends, of course, and the love and support they’ve given me through difficult times. But there are many little, day-to-day things I appreciate. Here are a few: • Modern dentistry.

Piedmont looks forward

To the editor:  So much can change in a year. Piedmont University ended 2021 with a healthy surplus. Still, in the last year, we’ve seen graduate student enrollment decline significantly. This was largely the result of COVID-induced school closures.
