Gymnast competes at state

North Georgia Reign Gymnastics Center in Cleveland competed at the 2022 Georgia AAU State Championship in Carrollton. Representing the team in XCEL Gold Experienced Division was Crystal Delugach from Habersham County, taking 11th All Around.

The North Georgia Twisters part of Habersham Country Parks and Recreation has qualified 10 gymnasts to the National Gymnastics Association Nationals Championship in Orlando, Fla., held at the Orlando Convenience Center June 6-11.

TFS earns sportsmanship awards

Region 8-A Private announced its Sportsmanship Awards by sport for the 2021-22 year. Tallulah Falls earned the honors in six of its sports, including in girls (tie) and boys (tie) cross country, boys soccer (tie), girls tennis, and girls and boys track and field (tie).

County pool short on lifeguards

   Wilson Elder spoke at Monday’s Habersham County Board of Commissioners meeting to bring attention to a recent problem at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center.    “On several occasions, the pool has been closed because we don’t have lifeguards,” Elder said.

Raiders get a spring test drive against Hart County

   Habersham Central will get a sneak preview of its 2022 squad at a controlled scrimmage against Hart County tonight at Raider Stadium.    The game will likely use the chains and the clock, but each team will get 10 plays on offense and defense before different squads of players are swapped in.

Raiders working toward scrimmage with Hart

Habersham Central’s numbers are still strong in week two of spring practice, and the Raiders are working toward a scrimmage game with Hart County at Raider Stadium on May 20. Habersham has 14 seniors to lead a group of more than 80 rising varsity players.
