Lady Raider teams open season Tuesday

   Habersham Central's volleyball team won its opening match Tuesday night, beating Lakeview in straight sets, 25-17, 25-19, 25-7.    The Lady Raider softball team made a late rally against Franklin County but fell 6-3 in their opener at home.

Rising Tallulah Falls senior hones pitch skills in Germany

Jake Hall will be a newcomer to Tallulah Falls’ soccer team this year, and he is bringing some international experience with him. The senior transfer from Collins Hill High School played with Global Soccer Development in Germany this summer against some of the world’s top competitors.

The Soque River Spurs, the local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, will hold its annual fundraising dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Community House in Cornelia. The event is in its ninth year and will feature dinner, auctions and raffles of outdoor merchandise.
