   Are you wearing pink today?    The front page of The Northeast Georgian is wearing pink ribbons all this month.    And, on Fridays, we’ve been sharing stories about how breast cancer has affected people in our community, along with some helpful information about breast cancer.

Mother Nature’s wrath brings out best in people

   The morning after Hurricane Helene side-stepped our community for the most part, we began to learn of her devastation in South Georgia and Western North Carolina. Our family, Heather’s mother and brothers, in Ben Hill County were hit hard, but they were safe.

No dollar is safe To the editor:    While we were being told how good for us the Inflation Reduction Act would be, the Biden/Harris administration was robbing the Medicare Trust Fund. Drug costs are capped for Medicare beneficiaries; now we know how.

Still enjoying that first trail

   Shortly after we first moved here in 2020, I suggested we find a local trail and take a family walk.    Matthew took us to the greenway trail next to the Old Clarkesville Mill.    We enjoyed exploring, and seeing the potential.

   Early voting started this week.    While there’s something special about voting on Election Day, we encourage you to vote early.    Why?    Because this election is looking like another close one between Republicans and Democrats and you never know what’s going to happen.

Hellish hurricanes help put things into perspective

   Albert Einstein theorized that things (such as time, space, mass and motion) are relative. To me, that suggests putting things into perspective.    In a seven-day span, my personal perspective couldn’t have been more powerful if a jackhammer had been pounding inside my brain.
