Football welcomed me back

Something odd around here this weekend was something very familiar to me.    Where I grew up Friday night lights were rare. In fact, there’s only one school we played against that I remember having lights to allow Friday night games. (It appears there are lights and Friday night games now.

Time to find ways to help

Thank you to all the public safety, law enforcement and other emergency personnel who helped us get through last week’s storm and its aftermath.    Many worked overnight – including those restoring power – to keep us as safe as possible.

A year in the foothills

The first time I ever set foot in Habersham County, it was St. Patrick’s Day 2021. I had traveled from Athens with a friend to get our COVID vaccines when the fairgrounds had a drive-thru clinic. We stopped at Dairy Queen afterward to celebrate. I never thought I would go back.
