Feeling popular

For some reason, I associate The Wizard of Oz with Thanksgiving. I think a television station used to air the movie every year on Thanksgiving weekend.

Our community is geographically blessed

One of my favorite things to do is talk about the good people of Habersham County and tell the story of our community. Cornelia has been on my radar since 1989 and Habersham County has been our home for almost 15 years.

Be more careful out there

It seems almost every time we’re out and about lately, there’s the flashing emergency lights signaling a car accident delaying our journey.    We’ve also been getting a lot of information about wrecks from Habersham County Emergency Services and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.

Commissioners not listening to public To the editor:    I attended the special called commission meeting Wednesday, leaving with the same disgusted feeling I’ve had leaving past meetings. They don’t listen to comments. Their mind is already set.

The woman who endured war

Eva Thelka Eisenhut was born in 1928 in Apolda, a small town that later became part of Communist East Germany. She was the oldest of four girls living with their parents in a four-room upstairs apartment.    Poor but happy, they were a close family.

Honor our veterans

Public celebrations and services honoring veterans are often organized by veteran service organizations.    Just look at Jim Morgan. He is the commander of our local DAV Chapter 15, and now commander of the American Legion Post 84.

Thankful for Lois To the editor:    In this beautiful month of gratitude, I’d like to take a moment to recognize an unsung heroine in our Habersham community.  As a longtime reader and subscriber to this newspaper, I always turn first to Lois Chitwood’s Lifestyle column.
