Teenage me had ideas, but no savvy

My short visit to Florida last week was eye-opening. I have one friend whose daughter is the CEO of a non-profit company – at age 13. My nephew is starring in and directing a production of “Little Shop of Horrors.” He just turned 14. What was I doing around those ages? Not much.

Give it all you’ve got

To the editor: Society would not allow me to be in the welding business if I did not give 100 percent at my job. Whether I liked the job or not, I still do it. I do not have the luxury to recuse myself from that job, because it is my job.

THUMBS UP to Habersham Central baseball coach Chris Akridge, who has helped lead the Raiders to a hot start on the brand new field in Demorest. But it’s more than that when it comes to Akridge, who has always led his team with integrity and class.

To the editor: As another winter fades away, I find myself ruminating on summers past. I remember, when I was about 10, laying in my front yard enjoying the clouds and incredibly blue sky. It was a beautiful day.

Not everyone can write brilliantly about mythical pigs

A lot of people think they are funny. Anyone can crack a good joke here and there, but to have a genuine sense of humor, that has immeasurable value. I think I’m pretty funny. Others may not agree, but humor in writing is a difficult craft to master.
