Loss of our values

To the editor: More than 25 years ago my then-pastor Georgia Deadwyler preached a sermon “What is Truth,” with God’s word The Bible as true, correct and not erroneous or inaccurate. I thought of that sermon as I read Pastor James Lyons’ article in The Northeast Georgian on Feb. 24, 2023.

No need for hate

To the editor: I’ve read no small number of letters to this paper that make me angry, but the letter from Curtis Stinespring of Hoschton may be a contender for the most hate-filled, godless piece of writing yet.

Wisdom comes with age

To the editor: I am writing this article today to give you something to think about – goals, dreams and aging. Some of the greatest things are accomplished and appreciated in life when you are older, as well as some of the greatest memories. Something amazing can happen if we don’t give up.

Response to Mr. Crytzer

To the editor: Regarding Fritz Crytzer’s rant in the last issue – suck it up Fritz. Gov. Kemp had nothing to do with the Nashville church school shootings. It occurred because your Democratic Party is promoting the sexually confused and mentally ill as normal instead of perverted and unstable.

We must do better

The mass school shooting in Nashville Monday still weighs heavy on us today. Why did this have to happen, again? Why as of Thursday morning has this horrific tragedy still not been declared a hate crime? Why is there a polarizing, double standard now on everything?

Curiouser and curiouser

Curious is a word I’ve learned a new meaning for since moving to North Georgia. Growing up in South Georgia, I always associated being curious to someone being very interested in something. For example: That NeSmith boy sure is curious about how to catch more catfish.

Village Reflections: Stanford stories

Sometimes stories show up in your backyard. That happened when I was mowing the lawn last summer and noticed a sheen of pink on the edge of the garden plot. I dug a little deeper and discovered what I later learned was a McCoy vase.

Costs are too high

To the editor: I keep reading and hearing about the cost increases for county construction doubling and tripling. It seems to me that county officials are dealing with the wrong people.

Nothing is being done

To the editor: On this wonderful, warm day, March 27, 2023, I decided to review the news, for current event happenings. I switched to MSNBC News, and was immediately hit with excited reports of another elementary school shooting that just occurred in Nashville, Tennessee! Amazing!
